Welcome!

Early childhood is an amazing time of growth and discovery—for children and parents alike! We invite you and your child to participate in a new study, The Mother-Child Relationships Project.

In this study, we aim to better understand the ways in which mothers and their children interact. We are also interested in how biological processes like heart rate relate to mother-child interactions.

What we learn from this study will promote healthy development as well as allow us to offer recommendations to families and child care professionals that will benefit young children.

The Mother-Child Relationships Project is being conducted at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign by Dr. Nancy McElwain in the Department of Human and Community Development, Dr. Daniel Berry in the Department of Educational Psychology, and Dr. Jennifer Cole in the Department of Linguistics.
